Story of Hansel And Gretel
- Wood cutter’s wife
Once upon a time, there was a poor woodcutter who lived with his wife and two children near the large forest. The name of the son was called Hansel and the daughter’s name was Gretel. Those children were always heated by their step-mother. She did not love and care for them, rather she didn’t want to see them in front of her. She was always thinking about how to get rid of them and used to feel a burden to care for those innocent children. In their region there was a scarcity of food and famine, thus the father was not able to provide the food to his children. The step-mother was very cruel, unkind, and behaved like unhuman towards the children. The stepmother planned to leave the children in the forest. She compelled her husband to leave them. The children already knew the parent’s plan but they did whatever the parents said. Gretel started to cry and Hansel comforted her and said somehow we’ll find our way back home. Later that night, Hansel snuck out and collected as many pebbles as he could in his pockets. He went out at night and filled his pocket with pebbles to scatter in the way of their trip to the forests.
One morning, the poor family had started their trip to the forest. Their intention was to leave the innocent children alone in the forest. The boy threw the pebbles on the road one by one. When they arrived in the forest, their parents left them while sleeping near the fireside. Children woke up at night and found themselves alone. They waited for the moon to rise and followed the road where the pebbles shone like silver pieces. They were able to come into their house because of the pebbles. Their step-mother was angry about seeing them but the father was very happy. They made another plan to leave the children again in the forest and again the children had heard the plan of their parents.
However, they were not able to do anything because they were trapped in the room. They gave the children some bread for the next day. This time they went to a thick forest and Hansel threw the pieces of bread on the way to the forest. The parents came back to the home. As last time the children woke up at night, they started to follow the way where he threw the pieces of bread but that was not there. They missed the way and became tired and slept under a tree. They started to follow a singing bird after they woke up.
They reached a house which is made up of bread and windows of sugar. The children were eager to eat the house. An old woman came out from the house and took them inside the house. They felt that it was heaven. The woman was a very wicked witch. She wanted to eat them. So locked Hansel in the stable gave healthy food to make him fat. However, Gretel pushed the witch into the oven, and the woman burnt and dead. Then Gretel becomes very happy and locks out her brother.
The children were very excited because they found a lot of pearls and jewels in that witch’s house. They put it into their pockets and walked towards the home. But on the way, there was a huge body of water and started to sing. Then after a duck came and rescued them to the side of the river’s bank. While they walked, they felt that the river was a friend and while walking far they were able to see their father’s home. They found their father in the home but their step-mother was already dead. They gave those precious stones, jewels, and pearls to their father and became rich or lived happily afterward.
