Why the lawyers wear a black coat? Know the interesting fact or reason behind that.
Not only in Nepal lawyers wear black coats and a white t-shirt all over the world.
Recall that the British ruler, Edward III, started advocacy on the 5th. At that time, the dress code of the judges was made on the basis of the dress code. The judges wore a cropped crown on the head.
At the outset, the lawyers were divided into four parts. The students were the trainees, pleaders, benchers, and barristers. They all welcomed the judge.
At that time, it was customary to wear a golden red dress and a gray gown in the court. Then on the 5th, the lawyer’s dress changed. The lawyer also started wearing long skirts. That dress made the lawyer and the judge different from the general public.
In 1909, the British Empress died of an outbreak. The then King Williams ordered all the judges and lawyers to come together in a black gown to mourn the death of the queen. The black dress was put on the queen’s death then became the common suit of the lawyers. In the beginning, it was the custom of singing. But gradually the trend of black coats came. Over time, the black coat became a lawyer’s choice. Black coats and white shirts have a common belief in lawyer advocacy and the belief of justice.
